Gary Makowsky is the Immediate Past Board Chair of the Memphis Jewish Community Center Board of Directors and a current member of its Executive Committee. He has been a volunteer at the MJCC since the age of 14, and has chaired most major committees at some point in his volunteer tenure. Gary also served as Co-Chair of the JCC Maccabi Games held in Memphis in 2012.
He is a partner in Makowsky, Ringel, Greenberg, LLC, one of the premier apartment construction companies in the greater Memphis area. He is the former sole owner and president of Makowsky Construction Company, Inc. Gary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Kansas. He has served as a Board Member of Bornblum Jewish Community School (where he served as Board Chair), Baron Hirsch Synagogue, Beth Shalom Synagogue and the Memphis Jewish Home.
Gary is happily married to his wife Dinah and he is the proud father of two adult daughters, Sharon and Ellen.
