Li-at Cohen

Li-at was born and raised in Ramat-Gan to a father that lost his entire family during the Holocaust and a Yemenite mother. She was a madricha in the Zofim and an active student on the Student Council in high school. She joined the army and served for four years, including three years as an officer in the Air Force. When she was released from the army she moved to Jerusalem where she studied at the Hebrew University, and obtained her B.A and Master’s Degrees in Business Administration. She was an active leader at the students Union and served as the cultural hub. Later in her professional life she worked for 10 years in several positions at the banking system. When she decided it was time to pay back to society she was accepted to Mandel Foundation – Educational Leadership program. During those years she specialized in the arena of business responsibility. Her thesis was published at the BGU.
For a period of three years she was the C.E.O of Be-atzmi – Be-Atzmi is a nonprofit social organization, which, for over two decades, has been integrating and advancing socially and economically disadvantaged populations towards stable and fair employment suited to their skills and aspirations. Ten years ago, they decided to move to northern Israel. When they moved to Mitzpe Hila she started to work as the director of the western Galilee partnership with the Midwest and the Nahariyya NNJ partnership at the Jewish Agency. Five years ago she was a candidate for mayor in her regional municipality and for the last three years she served as the director of the regional JCC.
Li-at is married and has four kids that are involved in the community. As a family, they are participating in Beit Midrash Kolot for the last decade.
