JCC Global’s new flagship program “From Good to Great” is off to a great start
"JCC Global-From Good to Great" is a three-year program designed to enhance the capacity and sustainability of JCCs in Ukraine, which have been impacted by the war. By leveraging the successful “JCC Global Amitim-Fellows” model, the program will facilitate global collaborations with partner JCCs worldwide. It is made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Jewish Federations of North America.
An intensive selection process began in July and resulted in recruiting 27 out of 30 JCCs. While we are still at the final stages of acceptance, we can report that the 10 JCCs from Ukraine are now ready to partner with peers from Argentina, Hungary, Israel, Mexico, Poland, UK, Ukraine, and USA.

Welcome Shanie Barenboim, JCC Global new Program Coordinator
Following a through selection process, Shanie Barenboim, from Tel Aviv, Israel will join the JCC Global staff team on September 1, 2024. The focus of her work will be administrating and facilitating the new JCC Global program: “From Good to Great.” Shanie brings to JCC Global vast experience in education, TV and media, social action and more. She is fluent in Hebrew, English and Russian and has worked an interacted with individuals from many countries and cultures.

A new JCC is being imagined in Costa Rica
A new JCC is being imagined in Costa Ballena, Costa Rica. Thanks to a dedicated group of expats led by Leni Sender, David Harris and Tobi Elizabeth, an inaugural Sunset Shabbat took place a few weeks ago. Special thanks to Ariel Jenik, Executive Director of Hacoaj Buenos Aires, who was recruited by JCC Global to provide mentorship.
The vision is to cultivate a community that joyfully celebrates Jewish Peoplehood, seamlessly blending the richness of Jewish heritage with the awe-inspiring natural surroundings.

October 7th One-Year Commemorations
This item is being written with a heavy heart, while the hostages are still held captive and the war is still raging. But in a few weeks, communities in Israel and around the world will commemorate the tragic events of that day and the days that followed. We gathered for you a few resources that may help you prepare for that day:
JCC Association of North America has curated a ceremony template "Service of Hope and Resilience" that can be customized for local commemorations. JCCA also developed additional program suggestions, talking points guide and more.
WZO has curated a ceremony template called "From Agony to Harmony"
